VOLUNTEERING

International Development Volunteer Program | Africa and India

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

The official name of the program is Development Volunteer, which is a 10-month volunteer program — during this program the participants can gain in-depth knowledge of global social and economic challenges and actively contribute to supporting communities in developing countries.

3-month of Preparation in England: The participants live in the CICD community, examining the rapid changes in the world, the drivers of development and the historical causes of poverty through international studies that combine theory and practice. They also actively participate in the daily life of the school, including food procurement, cooking, cleaning, building maintenance and community life.

6-month of Fieldwork in Africa or India: In partnership with Humana People to People, volunteers participate in various development projects, such as child and adult education, health campaigns, food security and environmental sustainability. Specific tasks are planned in advance, ensuring effective and targeted assistance.

1-month Experience Sharing: At the end of the program, participants summarize their experiences and achievements, then share them with the public on various platforms and in the form of personal presentations, raising awareness and inspiring others to take action.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The CICD – College for International Co-operation and Development is a residential school in the UK offering 7-, 10-, and 12-month programs through a combination of theoretical and practical international studies. Volunteers are sent on placements through the school's partner organizations—Richmond Vale Academy and Humana People to People—to Africa, India, or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Since 1998, CICD has trained more than 1,500 volunteers, development instructors, and climate activists from all age groups, nationalities, religions, and backgrounds. The school also prides itself on having a large global community and strong following around the world.

Most members of the Planetrise Foundation also began their journeys at CICD. We have maintained a close partnership with the organization since 2021 and regularly support the placement of volunteers in African projects.
